Failure of Sat Nav & Bluetooth - Avensis 2012 2.0 d-4d t27

Hi All,

Whilst driving yesterday the Sat Nav suddenly went off and pressing the Map/Nav button resulted in a error message "System not installed". I subsequently found that bluetooth has also ceased to work. My understanding is that Navigation & bluetooth is provided by a separate "extension" attached to the Head Unit and I believe that this extension unit has failed (see photo). To make matters worse, the head unit seems to trying to find the extension and is regularly re-booting, presumably in an attempt to re-establish connection?

My question is, if I were to source the appropriate "extension" unit and swap it out, would it likely communicate with my current head unit (without any re-programming being necessary) or is the extension somehow 'married' to the head unit . Help would be most appreciated.
