Hi, I think the basic problem is the amount of mechanics including Toyota who were unable to use the software after a tyre change. I definitely wont be getting my brake pads and discs changed at a so called 'tyre and brake specialist company' anymore. The nightmare turned out to be a very simple issue for me fortunately.

One bit of advice is make sure that whoever changes your discs and pads is competent as they may seem alright initially and then develops the fault soon after, otherwise the car should be grand I hope.

First of all, thanks for the update!

That was very incredible behavior for a Toyota mechanic indeed!

Due to circumstances (lack of money) I have had to do all the brake work myself. Never had any problems with Avensis. I´ve changed pads, discs and even calipers to rear axle in my 2012 T27. And when reading your experiences with mechanics, I may have to continue doing the brake jobs myself...

Hi,

That was the big lesson I learnt about who I will get the change my brake pads and discs in the future. And the other big lesson I learnt is that a 'Toyota main dealer' misdiagnosed my 'check parking brake' fault code. You may as well keep doing the brakes yourself.

There has to be a lot of people out there too, that got their cars misdiagnosed by Toyota main dealer for a new actuator when it just needed calibration on the discs and pads!!
