New ecu, old keys

Hello Toyota folks.

I'm completely new to this forum and didn't find exactly what I was looking for, and I'm in a hurry, so please excuse me if this has been covered.

I'm helping a friend with an Avensis T220 1.8 VVTi.

The ECU was toasted and they purchased a used one off of eBay.

They problem is that they don't have the corresponding key, so only the keys to the old toasted ECU.

The dealership can't help us in this situation.

So what to do now..?

Best regards

Howard

The ecu needs the car's VIN written to it and the immobilizer synced to the new ecu, the immobilizer module talks to the key this then tells the ECU is can start the engine - no need to touch the keys or immobilizer module

You can manually sync the immobilizer, it should then start without writing the vin

Hi Bob,

You seem to know a bit about programming. Just wondering can a used parking brake module be easily programmed with Techstream for an avensis.?  Is it just a matter of writing the VIN into the used one or is there more to it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no VIN to be written, just make sure the its the same part number it then needs to be calibrated

I'm sure I posted some info in the past
