Cannot login to My Toyota?

On clicking ‘Login to My Toyota’ from the drop-down menu of Toyota's website, the main screen is greyed out and a white pop-up box opens but this is blank, other than an ‘X’ in the top-right corner.  The ‘X’ or ‘Esc’ key will clear this box and take me back to the webpage but nothing else can be done with it.  Incidentally, clicking on ‘My Account’ clears the main screen completely before the white box pops up but clearing the box takes me back to the former screen.  Note that this happens on any device that I try to use (PC, Laptop or mobile phone) and with any browser that I have tried (Chrome or Microsoft Edge).  Clearing any cashe or cookies, or enabling pop-ups etc has no effect.

I can still access the MyT App and, certainly, I used to be able to login on any of my devices but they have all stopped working simultaneously, so there must be an issue on the system somewhere.  Note also that I have a vehicle on order and there is a possibility that this may now have a build date, if that makes any difference?  Is anyone else experiencing this problem or is there anyone who knows how to solve it?

I've still not got any access.  I contacted customer services and have sent them a screen shot of the issue.  So far, I've just had the usual IT response - clear cookies & cashe, try a different browser / device etc.  I suspect that it is something related specifically to my account, rather than a wider problem, so it may be more difficult to get to the bottom of it.  Hopefully, they will investigate further and resolve the issue.  If not, I'm starting to lose my faith...

Where exactly does it go wrong?

When you click on "Account" you should see the invitation to log-in to a particular section of My Toyota ...

When you click on Login / My Account / My Vehicle etc you should get an invitation to enter your username or email address and password.

If it fails before you enter your email address it is not a problem with your account per se ...

On my PC or laptop, the main screen greys out and I think that I am probably getting part of the white box shown in your second picture.  However, it is more of a thin letterbox shape than a screen-sized box and there is nothing in it except for the little 'X' in the top right corner to close it down.

I get a similar thing on my phone but the white box appears at the bottom of the screen.

This isn't making much sense ...

You can log-in via MyT and you aren't getting as far as the actual log-in screen on a browser - so the issue wouldn't appear to be with your account.

Which suggests that this is a "browser settings" issue - but you report essentially the same issue on multiple browsers and devices ... ?

Which could suggest an issue with a browser add-on that you have deployed consistently across your browsers and devices - e.g. an ad-blocker or password manager perhaps?

You could, perhaps, try a completely vanilla install of another browser - e.g. Firefox - to see whether the problem is also manifest there?

Interesting observation:

Just to check that all was OK and my identical lightbulb worked over here I logged into MyT online last night.
No problems at all. All working.

But...

All of the missing trips that I have noticed over the last few weeks... have all appeared. I haven't checked every single one but all of those that I knew definitely to be missing were there.

I have also checked the MyT App on the phone and they are there - as I would expect given that both clients access the same data on the server.

This suggests that something has changed at the Toyota end. No changes at all to the laptop/browser. No changes to the phone/App. No changes to the car. Yet, now they appear, without my doing anything at all  - that I know of.

I can say that the online MyT pages still show "Missing Translation" on the "Over the Air Map Update" page. I would very much like to know what those buttons are supposed to say because I want to use that facility.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ETA: Mod. Please move this to a more appropriate thread if required.

I don't normally use Microsoft Edge, so I assume that any ad-blockers, pop-up blockers etc would not apply to that browser and there would be no cookies or cashe relating to the Toyoya website either.  Without trying someone else's device, I think that's the closest that I can get to a fresh install but I still get the same outcome.

I will have to give someone else's device a go and see what happens.  Thank you for the helpful responses, though.

I have observed the same issue so it isn’t an issue confined to the original poster.

Well, I seem to have got to the bottom of it anyway!  The Toyota website has clearly changed the way that it is prepared to accept the user's cookie settings.  By default, I normally only allow 'strictly necessary' cookies.  This is how I have used the site in the past and it has worked just fine.  Interestingly, if I allow either 'Performance' or 'Functional' cookies I then get the full login box to open - but only once!  By logging out and then trying to log back in, I just get the empty login box again.  The only way to be able to log in and out consistently is to allow all cookies, including 'Advertising' cookies, which I really don't want to allow and don't see why that is relevant to Toyota for me to access my account... but that's the way it now is!

Oh dear...  it looks like I spoke too soon!

On closing the browser and attempting to log back in, the blank white box reappeared.  It seems that the only way to access my account on the Toyota website is to either clear all Toyota cookies every time and then log back in or to never log out at the end of a session, so that the account appears as soon as the website is opened.  That doesn't seem like a very secure way to leave it, though?!?!

I have managed to reproduce the issue that you have reported (using a spare copy of Firefox) ...

On an initial log-in it invites you to accept all cookies - if you do so all is well and you can log in and out at will.

If you accept anything less than all cookies (i.e. attempt to modify the settings) you are 'doomed' exactly as you describe - you get the blank white box and can proceed no further.

The work around appears to be to delete all cookie settings for toyota.co.uk, start again (i.e. with an initial log-in) and "accept all cookies" ...

You could try your browser's privacy/incognito mode and then accept all cookies; It starts with a 'clean slate' and then wipes the slate clean again when you close the window so the cookies won't do anything and will be cleared anyway.

I'm not overly bothered to have to accept all cookies from Toyota but there are many other sites that I most certainly would not.  However, even accepting all cookies, if I log out, close the browser, re-open it and again try to log in, I simply get the empty white box again.  As I said above, the only workaround is simply not to log out, so that I am automatically logged in when I next open the Toyota web page.  I'm not overly keen on doing this, though, as it is a potential security issue but it's easier than having to clear cookies every time I want to log in!
