Turn the key and nothing

My yaris has sat on the Drive for 2 years as i am no longer allowed to drive for medical reasons, anyway went to check it so i can get rid of it turned the key to first position and get no dash light up nothing head lights wont turn on nothing.

Took the Battery off to charge it but found it was fully charged so reconnected it but still nothing so i take it the fuse might have gone so my question is which fuse is most likely gone if it is the fuse ?

I have read a Battery will lose 1% of its charge a day if unused If your car has not run in two years there is no way it is fully charged it'll be as dead as a Dodo.

What gave you the impression its fully charged?

Battery charger is saying Battery is 100% charged when I connect it up to the charger, and when I put it on charge the Battery charger turns off.

That sounds like the charger protecting itself since (I suspect) the internal resistance will have fallen to just about nothing (i.e. short circuit) after standing doing nothing for 2 years.... It may well show a full 12v ish but it will not stand any kind of load, even a charger...

I have fully charged the battey before when it went flat due to a cold winter and it was fine, Just not convinced the Battery is dead alltogether at the moment.

I just need to get it going enough so I can get it collected for scrap as I cant be bothered with advertising it.

Have you considered a jump start?

Did the car start after fully charged? 99.9999999% the Battery is dead for sure. It might seem fully charged, but after 2 years, it cannot hold much.

Might be dead, so what if I connect Battery charger while Battery is still connected to the car to see if it makes the dash light up and then I will be 100% sure

I think we are now at the   straws and grasping stage.

You say you just need to get it going to get it collected for scrap the scrap yard will winch it onto a truck they  don't need it to run.

As mentioned the modern fancy trickle charger is protecting itself cos the Battery is too far gone to revive. I had this few years ago my new fancy charger wouldn't charge Battery but dear old Dad's ancient charger with no fancy circuitry did revive the Battery enough to start the car and even enough for the my modern fancy charger to take over and behave as normal, but ultimately the battery was goosed as it gone too low for too long.

Is the car too far gone otherwise than the Battery?

I was only thinking that a new Battery and an MOT would make it worth some money rather than scrapping it.

These old yarrisusssis were well made, and if not rusted out underneath, can sell easily.

Sorry that you had to stop driving,my empathy goes out to you, that is a big fear for a lot of people, medical or age stopping them.

Hope you get well, and can continue at some point.🙂

The Battery is dead, a charger will still charge it to 100 % but it will not have any current (like trying to put a 4" tenon in a 2" mortice), a weak Battery with the weather of recent months will have died

the Battery is so weak you won't even get it to jump start

Probably because it’s so obvious, even on brand new car without use for two years the Battery will be completely dead. I was thinking to mention volt meter but there is no chance the Battery can survive.

The Battery charger is fooled by a dead cell in the Battery saying it charged when in reality the internal workings of the Battery is a open circuit.

Its is a dead battery in otherwords.
