The bleeder has a valve in it. It may have some crud in it or one of the rubber hoses has gone porous with age

A disturbed line hard line will also draw in air

Cheers @flash22 I'm waiting for the master cylinder service kit to come but was going to have another look round everything this weekend. Am I right in thinking there is only the one flexible hose down near the gearbox?( Plus obviously the short piece of hose from the reservoir to the master cylinder) Anyone know where I can get the part number for this hose and any other part numbers for the rest of the clutch system? Its the one thing that has always annoyed me about the Toyota TechDoc that none of the part numbers are on the diagrams.

techdoc is very easy to use, click on the part and up comes the number

yep only 2 hoses

the system is basically a dead head system and uses the bleeder/valve as a 2 way 1 pipe, feed and return to the CSC

Sorry for jumping on thread late, where do I fill clutch fluid it up from? Is it the same place as brake fluid? Brake fluid is at max. Thank you

It comes off the same reservoir as the brakes be aware it has its own section so you need to keep an eye on that section, you fill it up and it overflows from the brake side into the clutch section
