Hi All, has anyone taken up the back seat as I’m fitting new seat covers and I’ve done the front ones. Is it just a ***** up on two spots at the front of the rear seat and pull it out. All information greatly appreciated. BTW the fronts were a pain!!.

I’ll post a photo where the clips are.  Yes, slide your hands palms up either side of the clip and an almighty upward pull.  There’s three wires at the back for the seat pressure sensors and feed the seatbelts through and the cushion comes right out while you work on it.  It’s the white socket to the bottom right of the photo.

Yes, they unplug close to where the seat belts are 👍 You can just see one peeping out on the far side here - white.

Thanks for all the help. I’ve removed the base of the seat and ready to re-install, my next question is: just below cat point on the middle rear seat belt there’s another little metal thing with a small notch on it and it’s probably an anchor point of the belt, where in the heck does it go/ hook unto I’m puzzled as I can’t see an obvious catch place. Again photo would be great, how can I send you a photo from my iPad???

I’m a dunderhead😤 I actually released that from its socket and had forgotten from where. I’ve no problems now in reassembling the base. If I’ve learned anything it’s that the old memory is on the blink 😡. Photograph everything that I dissemble from now onwards. Thanks again for your help Don👏👏.

By coincidence I did a bit more sound deadening today and got my mrs to record taking the seat out.  Don’t know if this 3 minute clip will upload…..

Yes very good video. My seat was not as easy to unclip as yours, in fact it beat me so I took a 25 mile trip to my dealership and this big hunk of a guy came out and it nearly beat him too. It took him five or six massive jerks to undo them, I had eaten a half ton of Popeye’s spinach I still would have failed 🤣.

Mine was much harder than yours but I’m stronger than the Toyota hunk 😉. It’s been out 3 times now so it’s a bit easier but trust me, the first time I thought either the seat or my back would break!

I’m gonna put a blob of grease into the socket and if I have to remove them at a later point It might be that I wouldn’t have to seek help.

If you can, get your good lady wife to video the sound proofing also, a report on the effects of your work.

I’ve done as much as I’m doing before warmer weather comes Bernard.  Getting plastic trim off without breaking it requires a lot of patience and I’ve been carefully warming everything with a hot air gun.   Today I did the last door (drivers) and the rear quarters which also got insulated. The insulation is also from Dodo and is recycled plastic bottles.   You have to be careful of not blocking the rear heater vents which go through behind the bumper.  I also did under the bonnet and inside the front wings which are clearly visible in the engine bay.  In summer, I’ll drop the floor covers and do some undersealing but not until I’ve applied some more sound deadening.  I can tell you now, it is much quieter and far less road noise is getting into the cabin.  I did a little video comparing the front and rear door.  They shut with more of a thud now.  Pedantic I know but I’ve enjoyed getting to know the car a bit more.

By the way, it was all followed up with a good wash….  the car not me.
