Map update RAV4 2022 PHEV

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm trying to update my Maps before the free updates run out after 1 year.  Seems to be taking forever on my WIFI. Sorry if it maybe a silly question but do I have to leave the car running to do this?

Thanks.

If you are doing an over the air update, i.e. connecting the car to your WiFi, then yes it needs to be in READY mode to download the update and while installing.

Thanks. Yes it’s OTA. Guess I will have to leave the car running for a couple of hours.

George....my RAV PHEV came with 3 year Map Care included....you sure yours hasn't? When I'm in the estore and see the map update, it says £119 but when I click on that it shows my 3 year free Mapcare update

Yes, currently ... 2023 V1 might be out any day now ... 🙂

I tend to download to USB to get a full set of European maps available and then update to whole set from there - the car still has to be in Ready mode during the update though you can, reputedly, interrupt and resume it (but I've yet to try that). The install from USB takes around an hour ...

Is there no way to just select specific countries when doing a USB download/, upload? Not OTA

Yes there is - you can "select on a country-by-country basis using the ‘Select by country’ button" - see destructions below:

My Toyota _ eStore _ Toyota UK.html

It just that I want it all, on both cars ... otherwise I'd probably download the UK bit OTA ... 😉

Oddly enough that's what I get now too! It worked when I originally posted it and is 'duff' now.

When you 'purchase' a map update, you can download (view) the instruction - as an HTML pop-up. I tried to save and post that and it clearly hasn't worked too well ...

A snapshot of steps 9 & 10 instead:

I have given up with the OEM sat nav, too many mapping flaws to trust it. Roads missing (and I am talking roads such A57), random route changes….. simply lost faith in its accuracy and ability.

I don't get how to update maps! I go through the prescribed routine on the screen in the car, and get told my map is too old to update and I need a full map update. See photo. So I obediently go to my.toyota.eu as instructed where I only seem to be able to do up to 4 regions as an update. Nowhere (yet) can I find a link to do a full map update. And if I am so lucky as to discover such a link, I have no idea how I am supposed to do it - sitting in the car?? I am in France, so maybe the process is different from UK but the principles are surely the same.

If it mirrors the UK process, you login here: https://www.toyota.fr/ma-toyota - i.e. Ma Toyota rather than My Toyota. We can then go to the eStore and 'buy' (for free) an update which you download to USB and go from there. It requires that you and your vehicle are registered for the service.

Thanks Philip. I finally managed  to get to the e-boutique, and tried to buy the 2022 v2 map, only to be told that I already bought it. Which is strange because a) I haven't and b) the car is telling me I have the 2020 v2 version which is too old to update. I suspect I shall have to go to the dealer unless I can find another way of downloading the map 2022 v2 (which I would prefer, to avoid tedious visits to the dealer)!

No ... if it's telling you that you've already bought it you should be able to navigate to the Purchased items section and Download to USB:

... all in French, of course ... 😉

The exact same thing happened to me.

The Toyota instructions are extremely bad and they need to be tested and rewritten

I could do it....
