Bleeping when stationary

2011 Aygo, 25k on the clock, with MMT bleeps after  1-2 minutes or so when stationary at traffic lights but if I move the car an inch or so it will stop and then reoccur after 1-2 minutes. No problems with clutch or gearbox. Does anyone have any ideas what causes this please?

At traffic lights are you keeping it in drive or neutral?

If stopped for 20-30 sec or more, Handbrake on, put it in N Otherwise it is a bit like riding a clutch in a manual

OK, thanks for the clear answer although there seem to be so many conflicting opinions, should put in N and not necessary to put in N !!! Thanks anyway.

The Multi Mode Transmission is an automated manual gearbox rather than a true automatic.

yes Flash22 is correct, the MMT beeps if you keep it in E for a long time stopped.

And yes ..  it's better to put it in N for reasons explained above.
