Mintex was my brand of choice, on my VW cars they often replaced Pagid Ferodo on the bikes. I tried SBS and one set fell apart, never trusted them again.

Do Ferodo still have a presence in UK I see that pads appear to be all Italian made.

The factory for car pads and railway products is in my town but if you’re talking about bikes then as you say, they went to Italy some years ago.

By the way, Mintex is part of TMD (Textar Mintex Don) and they are unlikely to dual produce products so if Textar make pads for VW, the same pads probably end up in Mintex boxes.

Never experienced squealing in 25 years with Lexus & my 2011 Mk2 ISF had simply the best brakes ever, the Brembo 4-Pot working perfectly @ speeds close to 200mph.

My Cross has quiet brakes to date but I am still running it in.

It’s when you’re creeping about or reversing they make a noise.  Mine don’t squeal at 200mph 😉

I think it might be the regenerative braking sound that the op described as strange noise when the car slowed down rather than squealing noise from the discs and pads, unless the car has not seen much use and they are all covered in rust.

This has always been the case with any automatic with torque converter or Toyota hybrids. Because the car pushes itself against the brakes until you come to a complete stop. If anyone try to flip to N before the initial stop there won’t be a noises, or be minimal. 👍

I did refer this at the beginning but the op never came back to clarify.
This is one possibility as a strange noise, the other is the regenerative braking sound which when stopping quickly is quite pronounced. Then are the typical squealing when creeping forward and then if you have rust on the discs. That’s pretty much all scenarios when you can experience any abnormal noises from the brakes. 👍

I remember passing the Ferodo factory many times years ago, Chapel-en-le-Frith, do they still manufacture there Don?

Yes they do.  It’s nothing like it was but they still make millions of pads for original equipment.

That was always on our route when we did a tour of the Peaks on the bikes, my mate always had a better route, still including Chapel-en-le-Frith past the factory. His routes always entailed heading into the morning sun, and coming back into the setting sun. Spectacular views of the setting  sun you just couldn't see the next bend.
