Would that make a clunking noise 🤷 I was thinking it was shockers or something .. dosent do it when car is warm, it's usually just from cold and when I turn right IE... Out of carpark etc .... Can go days with out doing then, then suddenly does it

It can be brakes or something on suspension. With the amount of salt thrown on the roads these days all trouble we have with the cars comes from that. Perhaps keep driving and see if it gets worse or it might get away. When the car was served last time? If you about service again you may ask your mechanic to check for you and also service the brakes too, 👍

I've just bought it 3 week ago , had service and discs and pads removed, they've looked at it and they say they can not see anythin... And like every thing else, it never makes noise when you want to to 🥺 keep telling my self it carnt be anything serious or surely would do it all time .. but it is so annoying that  I carnt get it to do it ,so they hear it, then maybe they'd be able to sort it for me

Yes tyre skipping makes clunking noise. When my tyres did this I thought the worse. Had the relative mechanic to have a look, he drove it and full locked the steering doing a turn in the road and told me tyre skipping due to some cheaper brands. First time I ever encountered tyre skipping. When the weather is dry then it doesn't do that.

Does it happen immediately after reversing? Could be the disc pads moving, mine does it after a brake clean and service on bumps.

🤣its usually when it's been stood awhile, and usually only when I first move and turn right ... Once I'm on the go, I never hear it, it the initial from cold to go it happens ... And it dosent do all the time... I'll have to see if there's a pattern, like weather conditions, like mojo said above..just so annoying 🥺

I think mine does something like this. Do you feel it in the steering? I feel a notch around where it happens, but the noise is barely perceptible, and it doesn't always do it.

Mine does the tyre skip if I am on full lock, moving slow and the road is a bit "gritty" as most of our broken roads are meaning  the tyre isn't getting a good grip,

Mine does it when it's not in full lock, yes I can feel it under foot and slightly on steering, but it's quite a loud clunk , silly as it sounds though , but it's taken the joy out of me changing my car if you know what I mean .. it's a 16 plate but only 27000 on clock , so it's put me off it ABIT 😒

Cold start first move very likely to be from brake pads  binding to the discs. Even if they just been replaced important here is that if the mechanic did checked piston return and did he clean and lube properly the slider pins? You can ask these questions.

Another typical for these cars clunky noise is from steering column. This can happen to almost brand new cars. The clunk usually happens when you turn slightly steering wheel at low speeds often when you do manoeuvres. It feels like metal clunk and pressure releases through the steering column.
You can try to replicate like turn twice steering to the left and move forward, stop and then turn twice to the right while reversing. And depending on your parking place and how you park the car this can just be a coincidence with cold starts.

Another clunky noises can come from suspension parts and particularly ball joints, arm bushes, stabiliser bar bushes and links, shock absorbers, springs or mc pherson bearings, all of these can be checked with wheels off the ground and turning steering wheel or  wiggle the tyres. Stabiliser bar links and bushes properly checks only with wheels on the ground or ramp.
Perhaps you can tip your mechanic about these and try the manoeuvre I mentioned. Let us know any results.
Good luck

Don’t worry, typical Toyota thingy , clunk , squeak, rattling but they are keep going. Is your car hybrid or what engine transmission it is?

Jane if your mechanics have checked the suspension system the steering and the brakes and the car is driving and braking as normal, you have nothing to worry about, relax and enjoy your virtually new Toyota Yaris.

Don't have any clunking noise but my car sometimes do steel cracking noises, like when the hot old engine is cold down, or like old motorcycles do when cold down (when I park the car after a 30min of everyday driving) it's coming from under the car...from the engine bay (or maybe some part of the exhaust system).

Is it normal for this type of modern engine? I hope the catalyst or something else is not cracking up 😄
It's funny because I drove in a legal manner when I do boring commuting. But it does only very rarely.

On top of that, the last minutes and hundreds of meters are usually on electric, so no high heat from ICE.

Never heard that on Prius or Auris hybrids. Last car I was getting this after each drive was an old lancer 1.6 from 2007. This cracking most likely comes from the exhaust manifold and cat converter heat shield. Nothing to worry about. 👍

Test it on a quiet residential road or supermarket when wet, full lock or what you normally do, test on both left and right, a few times each. Then when the road is dry do the same test. Or ask someone from your work to test for you.

My mk3 used to clunk every time I pulled out of my local petrol station not quite on full lock but very near.
The road is a bit broken up just at that point so I think it was just the wheel skipping. It did it from new, I eventually learned to just coast over the bad bit and it stopped doing it

My MK3 does the same in the turning circle at the end of my road you have to do a two point turn as its tight and it always makes clunk/skip noise  as i pull away slowly on full lock.
