Hey all,

I own a mk1 2009 ab20 facelift aygo, thinking of getting a used 2014 model. I know may parts are the same, 1st of all the engine. However I wonder is the mk2 actually the same car as mk1? Like chassi etc?

The second generation was developed from the first. The engine is the same 1KR-FE but has seen further development to improve performance, emissions, etc - see:

Further improvements were made with the 2018 facelift.

We have a similar Peugeot 107 (Mk1) and 108 (Mk2) and chassis and engine are basically the same, which is a good thing cos they didn't need improving/fixing, so the differences/improvements were for me the design faults/niggles that plagued the Mk1, the rear end design so the dreaded Mk1 water leaks not a major issue in the Mk2 and also the interior is a much better design with better seats, touchscreen DAB stereo + phone + steering wheel controls, proper glovebox, proper driver window leccy window switch, better sound deadening etc. etc., go and drive one and you will notice it a better built, quality car and the ride is more sophisticated than the Mk1. Our Mk2 also has more airbags + safety tech and also bigger wheels/tyres 15s rather than 14s.

Sound deadening especially, is very crucial to me, so it seems you ve seen some change into it too, thats nice.
