:help: Can anyone help, my wife's starlet glanza has developed a miss on idle when trans is shifted to drive. It idles fine in park/neutral but misses in drive and on acceleration. We have only just brought the car in from Japan so don't know it's history. The engine ran fine for a couple of days but now this has started to happen. She tells me the catalytic converter light flashed on a couple of times, is that significant? The car seemed hesitant on acceleration to about 6000rpm then went like a cut cat to max revs. Any help is much appreciated.

hi, found out the problem, seems the guys that steam cleaned the car in Japan filled the spark plug tubes with water, stuffed the plug leads. $165NZ later for a new set and all is well.

Replaced the original platinum plugs with std plugs at 1/6 the price is that ok? or are they goning to give me trouble.

Snowing here in Christchurch - New Zealand, turbo starlets are scary in the snow!!!!

Hi mate, chances are the standard plugs won't last as long. It depends on the quality of the plug and also the heat range they are supposed to operate in.

As an example, my friend had a Type R impreza (280 odd BHP) imported to the UK. The people who test it to make sure its all nice and legal and converted (SVA test) to UK spec. Decided to change the plugs with UK spec ones (220-240BHP). 1000 miles later and she developed a nasty miss because the plugs had melted.

If its the plugs Toyota specify for that car and its unmodified you should be ok though.
