Foam under passenger footwell carpet?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am looking to 'tidy up' our 2009 iQ that we've oened since new. So new headlight units, carpets, touch up paint, etc are on order to soon be applied!

One area I'm struggling is the trim or foam under the passenger footwell carpet. We had a dodgy windscreen replacement some years ago that leaked, and when we got them to sort it they 'cleaned up' the water. However they took out whatever foam or polystyrene from under the carpet and crudely cut a bit of random foam they had and stuff it in there. The carpet has never sat quite right and feels like it's pressing down on to the dob too directly, as it there's supposed to be a more properly fitted bit of padding.

I've tried to work out what this foam is, maybe a part number, even downloading the workshop manual someone made available on another thread, but I cannot find any pictures of the trim parts in this area.

Does anyone have a picture of the trim in the footwells? Or know what I'm talking about? Or even a picture? I suspect I'll end up at the Toyota dealer needing to order the part, so would be useful to know what I'm asking for first to ensure I get the right thing and not the run around from the dealer's parts department.

Thanks,

Iain

i suspect the part will be long discontinued, as will most of the interior parts, but you never know

Passenger No.4

58564-74010 or 58564-74070

Driver No.3

58563-74050 or 58563-74051

the Aston cygnet diagram is so much clearer

Excellent, thanks. I'll go enquire at my local dealer.

Useful website, lots of clearer pictures.

So none at the dealer, however I found a website with stock - "Amayama Trading" - and for only ~£33. However the shipping was £264! So not worth getting from there.

I've seen online a couple of breakers with an iQ for parts. I was wondering if anyone knows if these noise foams are stuck to the floor pan or just sat in place? ie how easy or not would it be to pick one out a car being broken? I can't tell from mine as it's no longer there!

Thanks for the link, I hadn't thought to order it as an Aston part. Total cost with UK shipping £90 which is not totally unreasonable.

Thanks... I did look at breaking ones, however I was a bit concerned that second hand sound deadening material would be in poor condition due to the known issue with the AC water getting in to the footwell.

I'll see how the new part goes and report back here!

Fitted the new under carpet foam. It is necessary to remove the seat which was fairly easy. The old foam was still partially in pace under the seat area, but the piece in the footwell area was all gone from when it has the AC water exhaust problem.

Without:

New part put in place:

With all the carpet back in place  it does still feel like there's something missing beyond this foam - is there supposed to be any more insulation in front of it? Or does the carpet just sit directly on the the bit of floor between the foam and bulkhead carpet?

That looks right, there should be a piece stitched to the carpet at the front for reinforcement
