DAB Arial

Hi,

Auris 2018 MKii Hybrid. (France)

I have fitted a new head unit that incorporates DAB+

Does this Car have as standard a DAB Arial fitted/connected to the Shark fin?

no, the shark's fin is FM only, the Factory dab aerial is stuck to the windscreen if fitted

if you have it, it will be a black connector, this is an SMB Female plug in a Toyota housing remove the tab flick the tab at the front to release it from the housing

it looks like the gps one but black

DAB and DAB+ are both transmitted on the same frequency, thus any aerial deigned for DAB will work just as well on DAB+.

FM is actually a lower frequency so, technically, for best reception a different length aerial would be used. That said most DAB aerials will work reasonably well on FM (and vice verse) so long as no balun is fitted.

Seems the best will be to get one of these DAB/+ arials from evilbay that stick onto the front screen.

TBH the DAB reception on my Auris is a bit hit and miss. Quite often it will report no DAB signal when the car is actually at a fair altitude and I cannot believe the signal; is poor at those locations. In fact I know it isn't. When it comes to good DAB reception (or TV or FM) altitude is just about the most important factor !
Not sure if it's the aerial or the radio. My previous Focus had poor FM reception (and even worse MW) and I was told it was actually the radio that was faulty.
