Air Con / Heating Question

Hello!

I've noticed that even when I set the temperature high in the car (so that the heaters come on) the side vents provide hot air but the two air vents in the cntral panel seem to stay cold (or possibly outside air) all the time, but no heat.

Is this normal ? Is it a climate control type of thing or is something wrong ?

Thanks in advance

ok mate i just tried mine in my 95 celica and they blow hot as hell , in recirc too, some cars have at least 1 set of vents open to fresh air all the time , my side ones have two turns on em , 1 for hot and 1 for fresh air , but the centre ones i have no control over its hot or cold depending on the temp dial, hopefully an avensis owner will tell you different .

Hello

My Avensis (and previous Carina E) is the same - cold air from the central vents exept when it is on full heat, then it comes out hot.

My Avensis pumps out cool air from the windscreen vents even when the heating is on warm/car. Does yours? The garage tells me its not a fault and that they all do it, but its frustrating to get cold air when you want it warm. When its on 'car' the air from the windscreen vents is coldbut hot from the car vents!

I was gonna say I noticed last night that if it's on full heat it warms up - which confused me even more! Thanks for confirming for me!

I'll check the windscreen vents and get back to you!

if you set the the heat, then set the position to vents only ( not feet n vents or screen n vents) you should now get warm/hot air from the center vents

Thanks - tried it and it works! With the regard to the windscreen vents, they seem to put out whatever type of air I have the temp set to - so not sure if yours is right cemackie
