Early Corolla 5 speed gearbox wanted

New to this forum. 

I'm after an early (mid 1980's) Corolla rear wheel drive 5 speed gearbox.

Happy to pay what it's worth, and can pick up from anywhere around Melbourne (Australia!).

Being new to this site, not sure of best way to contact.

Afraid to say this is primarily  a site for UK Toyotas so doubt we can help your directly with a gearbox.

However, some of the other forum members might be able to suggest which gearbox from other similar  or later models  might fit your car, though only if you can give the exact model, year,  Engine type and Vin number of your car, and if you have it the model number of your existing gearbox.

I was hoping the site might be international, with the occasional Aussie participating.

I'm looking for a 5 speed gearbox to suit an XPAG motor in a 1955 TF MG. My investigations tell me a K50, T50, W55 or a W58 (not the one with the very low 1st) would be suitable. However, I'm not sure about the availability of rebuild parts/kits for those boxes.

Perhaps anyone over your way might be able to elaborate as to parts availability for those boxes?

You are most  welcome, we do get other visitors from around the world, just that most of the knowledge is for UK spec cars, though sure a lot of it is common to all.

Hopefully the real techie guys will see your post soon and offer some help.

We do indeed have very active MG owners clubs here in Australia. They generally have news letters, rather than tech sites. MG tech issues are generally well covered in a couple of internet forums which I have explored in detail. However, you have me thinking now of placing a wanted ad in our local MGCC magazine.

In the meantime, if anyone over here sees this, or over your way (or in the "Old Country", as we call it!) has any information as to sourcing  appropriate gearboxes for XPAG engines and parts availability to suit those boxes etc, I would be very pleased to hear.
