And that is what some people do not realise.

Not only that, but a no fault claim may be seen as evidence of greater risk and lead to an additional premium.

For instance, being hit in a car park, even with the other party paying, suggests you might park in more hazardous places.

Insurance company’s are always seeking to find reasons to increase premiums no matter how far fetched from reality, a bit like governments always seeking to find more ways of taxing the public.😡😤

Best practice to move away from your current provider if you even made only a glass replacement claim. Then after a year or two you can return and you will be given a good quotes again. 👍

That’s the tactics I use and I have no hesitation in telling them that, either they match or better the best quote in the market or they lose my business.

Coincidently I received my renewal quote from LVE (Liverpool Victoria) yesterday. Year on year they have been competitive and renewals have not seen big increases but not this time, a whopping 38% increase. I called them to express my disgust.

Sergei to the rescue... simples really 😀... and I have renewed with the AA for less than I paid last year with LVE. LVE said they couldn't get anywhere near all the other quotes. Even M&S was way cheaper.

Same happened to us few years ago with LV, was with them for 4/5 years then suddenly renewal shot up for no reason, so we also been with the AA for few years now, ironically many years ago I gave up asking the AA for quotes cos they were always twice the price of anyone else. As said insurers critieria change like the weather, so one year you flavour of the month and then.

To OP, good to see your car back on the road, but I surprised how strong money even old bugs like our 107 are making nowadays.

I did get some quotes with my accident declared, I was pretty surprised to find a quote from Hastings for £300 without a NCB and an claim of unknown value. I'm shocked really as last year I left Hastings because they quoted me £360 (and claimed they couldn't get it lower) and Sheila's wheels was ~£180. I'll have to ask Sheilas wheels to see what happens with the NCD, like if I'll loose all or a portion of it? I've never been loyal to a particular insurance company as you don't get anything for it (you usually just get stung with higher prices).

If you save even £30 for an hour's work, that's still the worth your time assuming you make less then £30/hour for your time at your actual job. That's the way I look at it... Plus if everybody did this the insurance market would probably be more competitive on prices unless they made an agreement behind closed doors to fix prices 😅. The only thing I'm a bit cautious about is making sure it's a trustworthy company.

This is my first claim after 8 years of driving. I think the biggest cause was my mental health due to stress of us getting our first house and my job cutting all of my hours and making other people redundant just as we got a mortgage. It's no excuse though, I'm certainly making a huge change to my driving like Making sure I always take extra care checking I've seen everything and always making a sweep around the A pillar blind spot when it's in the way of my vision, plus not really worrying about everything while driving. The crash was happened because the car was behind my A pillar, but like I say, that's no excuse and was 100% my fault. To be honest I was lucky, nobody was hurt and the person involved was lovely. Everybody offered their help too and was really nice, it was strange seeing the good side of humanity with all the rubbish going on with this country currently. The Ford Puma was pretty new and because the airbags had gone off they couldn't start it to move it off the roundabout and the people who stopped to help pushed/moved it off the road while we was both recovering from the shock. It was bitterly cold though as it dropped down to about -3°c while we sorted out insurance and exchange of details at the side of the road.
