My car still has the original bulbs, so cannot answer your question. Slightly off topic, but unless you have lots of foggy weather, fog lights are hardly in use, so you might have been just unlucky to have the bulb fail. I never changed the bulbs on my fog and main beam headlight on my current Avensis or my previous '98 Mk1. If any bulbs do fail, when I replace them, I use clean rubber gloves of use something so as not to touch the bulb glass. We all know that oily deposits from skin can cause hotspots on the bulb glass, which can cause the bulbs to blow. So if the bulb is carefully replaced with a good long life bulb, it shouldn't need to replaced in a long while. Also is the housing sound and not damaged?
The other problems with using LED bulbs are making sure it fits the location, water resistance since the location is lower to the ground, and the lighting pattern matches the original bulb. Quality of the LED bulb can also vary - some can fail earlier than expected!

I would stick with original. My pet hate are drivers using fog lights when they don't need to. Plus depending on enforcement, drivers can be prosecuted!

Not what you want to hear, but you make the choice.

Changing a fog light bulb is something I've never done... But I have replaced the entire fog light unit a few times due to a broken lens.

Not anymore because I took them off and cover the holes with black plastic. I never used them anyway.

And like Mr. Conrad, I hate those drivers who use fog lights all the time.

It will depend how often you use them as halogen bulb doesn’t have very long life and the more powerful they are the shorter the life they have. Buy good quality replacement like Philips eco vision for longest life possible or anything you like but try to avoid cheap or unknown brands. To access the light behind you may need to remove a corner plastic cover that acts as aerodynamic spoiler to the front wheel. 👍

If this is the bulb you need H11 these are the longest lasting halogen bulbs. I use them in my car for dipped beams and I drive only at night. Last me around 6-8 months 20k and more miles. They are also fitted as oem in many cars including Toyota.
