Radio code - Yes or No?

Should the radio/CD (non-Nav model) in my 2013 Auris 1.6 Sport (E180) have a code?

I phoned the Toyota dealer down in Avon who originally supplied the car to ask if they had a radio code and the chap said he’d get back to me. He called the next day to say that he’d checked with both the service dept. and sales and they had nothing on record for a code and said these radios should be ‘plug-and play’ without a code. As he also gave me information about the car - which I didn’t ask for - such as service history and previous ownership, I feel he’d obviously made some effort on my behalf rather than a fob off.

As my touch screen is not working (but not cracked or damaged) that’s why I enquired about the code as I was wondering if a reset might just sort things out. The radio/CD works OK via the knobs and side buttons on the unit so I can use it, but the screen would be helpful.

Interesting to find out that the touchscreens have been a major problem on various Toyota models in the USA and giving up the ghost in many cases shortly after the radio guarantee expired.

I’ve also tried the various YouTube ‘tricks’ (American) that can get the screen working again- such as stroking the mag stripe on credit cards etc. or ‘wiping’ them along at the base, but to no avail.

No code.

The US systems use different head units to Europe - Entune in the US and Touch, Touch 2, etc in Europe.
