Something that locks doors when I exit.

I keep forgetting to lock my dors when I exit. Doors don't lock themselves after exit.

They do re-lock after a number of seconds if already locked and I unlock, but this is different to what I require.

Toyota dealership say there is nothing they can do and is not a function of the centallocking or at alarm.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

There is nothing that can be done about that except aftermarket alarm system. You need to find a specialist who install these and see what they offer.
These can mess up your 12v Battery and shorten its life especially if not fit properly. I personally won’t recommend anything then trying not to forget to lock your car. If this is not an option then best do not store any valuables inside.

Don't think you've thought this through.

If you installed such a system, what would happen if there was a passenger in the car, but only you got out and left the car? Would they be locked in with the alarm armed.

Since the manual unlock on cars are not so obvious, unlike older cars, i would not bother.

Even if you leave the car unlocked for days, no one will notice.

The era of stealing radio's is far gone, so nothing really worthwhile for junkies to break into the car for.

Dean, you obviously missed the thiefs' guide in the papers earlier this month.  No longer do they check door handles; they simply look for expensive cars whose wing mirrors are not folded.

Today, at the shops, I left my car unlocked.  I thought I had, but I had failed to press the Start button.  The car was in Ready mode and would not lock.

As I can lock the doors in Ready while in the car, why can't I lock it when I am not?  I can also switch it on while locked, so why can't I lock it while running too?

Like the conditioning, it could be set to switch off after 10 minutes or less.

Just use the systems that you have in the way they are intended/designed to work.
