Picked up my new GR Sport 1.8 at start of Jan, so I'm assuming its a 22 MY, but I have a lot of the looks seen in pictures of the 23 MY. The test drive car last summer had physical buttons around a smaller entertainment screen, and I only have the volume control, so not sure!

I'm sure I haven't found the right setting, and I always use Apple CarPlay, the Toyota Sat Nav hasn't ever been used. When driving along (music playing) the car will sometimes announce a warning of something ahead, but very quietly.  Most often: "Attention: in 1 mile, roadworks".

Whilst this is all well and good and clever, can it be turned off?

In the same way I've had random beeps, assume they are from the Toyota Sat Nav telling me about something, but with the Car Play system playing music or running Google Maps/Waze/Apple Maps on the screen, its a bit pointless.

Thanks!

Entertainment system with buttons was MY21 or earlier.

The random beeps (usually 2 beeps together) are the in built satnav warning for upcoming speed cameras.

As far as I'm aware it can't be "turned off" but you can go into the system settings and turn the navigation volume down to 0. This will stop the beeps, and the posh voice giving you warnings.

You have the same MY22 Smart Connect Plus system that I do (with only the volume dial). Check out this thread for a little more info: https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/206610-infotainment-system-on-2022-models/#comment-1635199

If it has a volume wheel on the left of the screen it’s a my22, if it has 3 buttons under the screen then it’s a my23.

also the my22 had 6 parking sensors at the front and 6 at the rear vs the my23 which has 4 at the front and 4 at the rear which are also mounted more flush

I've just been reading more of the forum, and looks like quite a few things moving in Corolla world in the next few years too. Back in 2019 I drove a Gen4 Prius which had the cross traffic alert, and that would be good to see in the future as a safety feature.

You could always fall back on the old system of looking before backing out slowly.

Rear cross traffic alert with blind spot monitoring are only on the Excel for MY23. I think front cross traffic alert is called something like intersection lateral collision avoidance and is part of safety sense 3.0 , maybe someone lucky enough to have received their MY23 can confirm
