Auris Hybrid Multimedia upgrade

Hi all. I'm a newbie to this club. I would like to ask for a bit of advise. I've just bought a 2016 Auris Hybrid hatchback, 2 previous owners. I can't seem to pair my Android phone via bluetooth, it doesn't recognise it. Also, the Sat Nav doesn't have en-route voice instructions (like my old stand alone Garmin!). Can I upgrade the existing multimedia system to cure these issues? Is this a DIY fix, or via a Toyota dealership? From images I've seen, my system looks like it might be a Touch 2 with Go, Gen 2. The system tells me it's version 4.5.0WH, and the Map ID is 2015 v2, if this helps. I'd be grateful for any advise.

Thanks.

It depends on your type of multimedia. there is 2 grades: L low or H high and they have different software. ONly high version have voice instructions. There is no way to change version without hardware changes

Thanks for the reply AisinW. Where does it tell me what grade mine is? I obviously realise, from what you've said, that it is the L grade, but it would be nice to know. I guess a hardware change would mean a complete new multimedia unit? Is this an upgrade that is possible? Would the most up-to-date software add much to my existing unit, if I'm not able to change the whole unit that is?

There are two systems in play the head unit and navigation extension, both can be updated ( with a cost ) by a dealer,

  • Navigation can also be done by user Via MyT portal and estore ( at a cost ) register for access HERE note you can also access Full owner & Multimedia manuals here.
  • Head unit is a little different and designed for dealer update however you can pay for access to Toyota's technical systems access (payable by hour, day, week etc) HERE

Latest Navigation extension & Map version is currently 6.20.0WH - 2022 V2, a new version will out very soon. Head unit is more difficult to work out the latest version

Both low/high grade navigation include voice guidance High grade adds Voice activation of features and 3D maps, you have high grade 4.5.0WH W = Western EU map set H = high grade. Yours is likely turned down on volume of muted

Hi Devon Aygo. Thanks for this very informative reply. Very helpful.

I've eventually managed to register my phone to the multimedia unit via MyT app, so that's all good now. During the process of setting up my car on Toyota's customer portal, it indicated that my multimedia unit is Toyota Touch 2 Go Plus MM13, which clears up any doubts I had about what the unit was.

I can't seem to change the volume yet, when I'm in the navigation screen, and I can't find a mute button anywhere yet either. Maybe it's because my version is so out of date?! I'll probably wait for the newest update coming out, that you mention, before I do anything. I'm going down to London tomorrow, so I'll give the sat nav a go and see if I can get the sound working! I'll take my Garmin as well, just in case things goes pear-shaped!!

The downloadable Navigation Manual from my online Toyota portal is 'OM12J41 Valid 5/2015 – 3/2016'. I've just got to digest it all now!! Plus the other user manuals!

Many thanks for your valued advice.

Note you don’t have to purchase the map upgrades from Toyota often they can be found on eBay for about £30
