Diagnostic Fault of ABS & Parking Brake

Hi all, hope I can get some help regarding a few recent faults I found while playing around with the carista device plugged in the OBD2 port of my 2020 Toyota C-HR 2.0.

The app seems to be showing 3 faults, which I believe seem to be related having researched to the extent of my knowledge, also couldn't find many explanations or reasoning behind these faults. I've attached the faults that is showing in the app, which are:

Parking brake:

  • C13A9 - Brake System Circuit

ABS:

  • C1241 - Low or High Power Supply Voltage
  • C1300 - Manufacturer-specific code

Everything seems to be normal with the car and driving it no problems whatsoever, no faults or warning lights in the dash etc. Also it has just been in to Toyota for a Battery check and recharge. Having seen the fault for brake system it did kind of alarm me a bit as I am now worried it is a bigger issue than what it is? Or maybe they've not been reset since last checkup if they were fixed or have already been sorted?

Just a quick note, I did not reset any settings or warnings, I have left them as it is until I get it possibly checked by Toyota or my local garage.

I'd appreciate any help, thanks!

More than likely history codes if the EML is off - clear the codes - TBH it's more than likely a flat Battery in the past also those codes have various definitions

eg. C13A9/61

That makes sense, I thought that too but one always gets worried when red faults appear out of nowhere! 😄

The Battery did die on me twice so had to take it in to Toyota for a Battery checkup and trickle recharge, sat there for 3 days! An awfully long recharge time! Luckily the Battery was just discharged quite a bit as it was sat in dealership for a long time before I bought the car - so no big problems as is usual with hybrids. Nevertheless I also think these codes just haven’t been reset before or might just be due to the flat battery.

I’d probably leave it as it is and when it goes in for a major service in December they’d probably just sort it out.

If you are unsure of what you are doing put the Carista on eBay and go to a fully trained mechanic preferably a dealer or person trained on the car make concerned or it could cost more in the long run.

Likely to be from a low voltage in the 12v Battery.
Have you checked it with the adapter or voltmeter? If you don’t use the car often or on journeys longer than 30 min then best to recharge the Battery with external smart charger and as suggested already nuclear the codes if the car drives fine. Using Carista or other obd 2 adapters it’s ok even if you don’t know much about it , there is no risk of causing any further trouble but will help read the codes, search for information, therefore it’s good 👍
