Toyota Corolla 2020 1.8 Petrol/Hybrid. Recently bought this car second hand and there is a grey button on a wire just hanging out of the dashboard. Does anybody know what it could be please?

As flash says it is probably a after market switch . This was posted on another site and it could be the same thing.

is a Karr alarm shock sensor. The min/max are on the shock sensor. The green light flashes when the car is off as a theft deterrent. The button on the bottom is the emergency override/valet button. To put it in valet mode, you would turn the ignition key on and press the button underneath until the green light goes on solid. To take it out of valet mode, you reverse the process. It is an add-on to the factory alarm and all it does is add a shock sensor. It is a waste of money on a system such as we have, IMO. You can unwrap the electrical tape and you should have a power, ground, ignition, and one wire that ties into the factory alarm system. You or, if you're not comfortable doing it, an alarm shop can very easily remove it.

It doesn't look like a Karr product, but it does look decent quality it just a button that plugs into a control box somewhere trace the cable back to what it goes to, does the button rotate ?

i will see what Dr google can come up with.................

It doesn't seem to rotate, just clicks when its pushed in but it doesnt change anything. The side of the roof panel has been unclipped and not pushed back in so i am thinking it belonged to something else that was retro fitted and then removed maybe.

Just tuck it under the dash out of sight and forget about it.
