I need to replace the 12v Battery and would appreciate some suggestions. Is it worth sourcing via a dealer or other 3rd party supplier?

Hi,

you can always start with the dealer and see what the price and availability are. Then compare other sellers like Halfords, carparts4less, Eurocarparts, aceparts, eBay, auto doc etc. if you about an aftermarket Battery best to measure yours physical sizes especially of it is a tight fit. , also check parameters are the same or very similar, good practice to stay near these figures, too small or too large batteries will die prematurely.
That’s pretty much important steps and the choice of Battery it’s yours .
Good luck 👍

To update, I tried 'reviving' the Battery on my Noco Smart Charger which has a repair mode but to no avail!

I ended up buying a Yuasa Battery from GSF in their Easter sale at £86.

All is now good again in my GT86 world (as it is also in my Corolla world)

But your details say you have a Yaris?

I am only asking as I have a GR86 and a Corolla!

The Corolla went last week replaced by a GR Yaris Circuit Pack.

I'm debating as to whether to Keep the GT86 or swap it for another interesting older vehicle, thoughts of a Lexus of some sort?

My GR86 Battery failed to start the car probably because I left the boot lid open for too long and the boot lamp flattened the Battery, so I have disconnected the boot lamp.  However because the Battery is only 45 AH (note my 1.3 Corolla battery is 85 AH!), I was thinking of looking for a battery with say 70 AH or more, are you saying that I shouldn’t do that?

I would of course check the physical dimensions.

I do think that if you go way too large from 35Ah up to 70Ah your alternator may straggle to recharge this large capacity Battery and with the time the Battery will die too. Usually cars components are designed to work together, small Battery will require less powered alternator and vice versa.
From 35Ah sensible move will be 45Ah imo. 👍
