Official dealership sold car with leak issue

I must admit I am often confused about the demarcation and responsibilities of the different entities branded Toyota...

Toyota GB are totally separate to the Franchises and treat them like rubbish (I've heard this from Toyoya Franchise employees), I don't really understand why, because surely Toyota GB want as many cars sold as possible.  I guess its probably got something to do with discounts, money blah blah blah.

So, it's key to finding a good trustworthy Toyota Franchise Dealer, luckily for me, I have.

What was the point in Customer Relations taking notes of the case and wanting to investigate, if they were going to back off. I'm confused. The advisor clearly stated on the phone that the conduct isn't correct and would be handled by customer relations.

So they just use the Toyota brand name and act independently? Toyota advertises those cars from those dealers on their official website and promises to offer support during the entire process. My contract is also with Toyota Finance.

I'm still within the 30 days, so if worse comes to worse, I might have to kick up a fuss and return the car.

The main dealership would buy the car back, if I was to bring it to them.

Quite unhelpful in my case...

Just take the car back, yes it sucks you have to take it back, but put it down to a bad experience and a learning curve in life.

As all that’s happening is you are going round in circles, and to be brutally honest plenty on here have given you suggestions on what to do, and perhaps you haven’t been particularly polite to everyone who has offered advice or experience.

So, just take the car back, get a refund and look for something else!

I'm currently dealing with the same issue, leaking water into the boot and the dealership isn't being helpful. Just purchased the car 2 weeks ago and I'm lost for words. The customer service is terrible.

There are a number of places in the boot area where water could come in, the most common is from the 3rd rear brake light at the top of the boot as over time the seal goes.  I've had this problem for a year and yesterday finally got round to resealing it using Granville clear silicone sealant.  The unit can be tricky to get out the first time for one person, I also had to use old ATM cards to place in the gaps whilst unclipping to stop them clipping in again.

Remove the cover at the top of the boot, put your hand in and feel round the top for 2 clips to push, use you right hand to push down the left clip, place an ATM card in the small gap given on the outside left side, it'll create a little tension, if needed you can alao place a card on the top. Do the same for the right side click using you left hand and some atm cards.  Now hopefully you can put both hands as best you can in the hold and push evenly to release the whole unit.  There are 2 clips on the bottom but these are next to impossible to get at.

Clean the existing seal and the body work, unclip the plastic bit the hose is attached to an inspect the rubber ring on it, likely it won't be usable and you'll been to use sealant on this part. Place sealant round the unit, reattached the connector and hose clip and push back into the boot.  Wait 15mins then clean up an sealant squeeze out, I lightly used a screwdriver to push it away from the brake then a cloth to get rid of it.  This youtube video I found a great help.

Toyota GB aren't any different to other vehicle manufacturers selling in the UK.

As an example our local Hyundai, Kia and VW dealers are both branded with the car manufacturer's signage, etc, but are separate companies to the Hyundai, Kia and VW UK importers. They operate under a franchise agreement with the importer.

Same with most McDonalds, BurgerKing, some branches of Boots Opticians, Specsavers (who operate Joint Ventures similar to franchises), etc.
