2012 Toyota Estima Hybrid 12 volt battery upgrade to AGM.

The 12 volt Battery was due to be replaced (It was going down to around 10 volts in cold weather) so I've installed the Bosch S5A05 AGM Battery. The installation was pretty straight forward. To make it easier I removed the 4 bolts holding the jack bracket and just lifted it up enough to get access to Battery terminals and I was able to remove the temperature sensor with ease from the old battery and attached it to the new battery. The size was a perfect fit except for the bracket to hold the battery needed a sleeve (you can use a few washers). This should give a good few years of trouble free motoring. It cost me £120 from eBay (Euro car parts site that goes by the name carpartsbargain on eBay) as opposed to around £250 for the non AGM Panasonic battery for the Toyota Estima so a good deal all together.

Hybrid estima's use an AGM from the factory S55D23L iirc

 

005 or 027 type is correct for the estima - S5 A05 is a Bosch 027 AGM Left-hand Negative - the Varta D52 is the same Battery what's made in the same factory as the Bosch

With Bosch S5A05, my Estima Hybrid 2009 can run smoothly with ease of installation.
