Toyota Aygo 1L petrol semi autocar  actuator REPLACEMENT

Further to my request previously I want to thank two replies  I have had., Found the car is only  33.000 miles old so probably worth  doing ., Any idea where to go  other than Toyota maindealeers who would make i a repair too expensive , Car is driveable.Car in Bristol  Does anybody know  who can change to the part/service the gearbox  ?

Toyota diagnostic report said  -Gearbox operation poor, requires actuator and possibly clutch, if its worn prematurely because of the actuator. Thanks  BB

Honest John replied to my questiion regarding  the actuator and possibly clutch diagnosed as the fault onmy mothers  2009 30,000 mile old Aygo . HJ  are bringing up necessary Toyota software for diagnostics and programming which I didnt think this repair would need from prevoius replies I had on this forum ?!! ,Advice to clarify  apreciated  , Thanks  BB

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your email, we're sorry to hear of the problems with your mother's Aygo.

It sounds like the car requires a significant repair which will cost a substantial amount of money. It is understandable that the cost of repairs quoted by the Toyota dealer seems high compared to the current value of the car.

Non-Toyota garages can carry out specialised work on your car, including the replacement of the gearbox actuator and clutch, and this will likely be significantly cheaper than from the Toyota dealer. However, it is essential to ensure that the garage you choose has experience in working on Toyota Aygos and has access to the necessary Toyota software for diagnostics and programming. You may want to consider getting quotes from a few reputable garages before deciding on the best course of action. You can also search for Toyota specialists on the Honest John Good Garage Guide here: good-garage-guide.honestjohn.co.uk/

Another option to consider is selling the car as is, possibly as a trade-in or to a private buyer who may be willing to take on the repair costs. You can get a rough idea of the current value of your car by looking for similar examples online.

Ultimately, the decision on what to do with the car will depend on several factors, including the car's overall condition, the cost of repairs, and your budget. It's best to weigh all your options carefully before making a final decision.

Kind regards,

David
