Change Car Tax VED Anniversary

I can't remember if I already asked this when the same thing happened to me last time, but is there a way of changing the car tax anniversary???

I've been done by the DVLA again! Sent me a letter for £155, charged me £170 because I didn't get the letter until after the new rates kicked in in April!

Gaaah!

Ooh that's a good idea, I hadn't even thought of that!

I know I couldn't on my previous cars as they were only £30 to tax, but given we're now at £170 you can, although it appears to be slightly more expensive if you pay 2x6 months instead of 1x12.

The only thing is, when the 6 months are over do they send you a bill for the next 6 months or can you pay for 12?? :confused1: Otherwise I'd have paid the extra for nothing!

Has anyone tried that before or paid 6 months and knows what happens for the next 6 months...?

From what I recalled there is always the option of 6 or 12 months for normal rate. Haven't had to pay road tax for 8 years. Need to when the MK4 is in my possession, though knew the govt will tax all vehicles sooner or later.
