Light sensor

Does anyone know if this sensor behind the rear view mirror is the sensor that automatically switches the lights on?

The head lights? No, that just controls the mirror auto-dim.

The sensor for the headlights is on the passenger-side of the dash near the windscreen, it's a little dark dome-thing about the diameter of a pound coin that's looking upwards.

it's the auto dim for the mirror

Headlights and rain are at the top centre of the screen - iirc the one on the dash is for sun load for the A/C

I am considering purchasing a digital rear view mirror, mainly for the rear Dashcam functionality so wondering if covering up that sensor would cause issues. Sounds like I am all good!
