Front bumper - secured

Just purchased ( for the wife ) 67 plate hybrid Yaris, but have info that front ends are being stripped not far from where we live.

As the car doesn’t have an alarm system fitted, I thought I’d see what I could do to make front bumper a bit more difficult to remove.

Having a few bits and bobs lying around in my garage, I decided to replace x3 of the top bumper scrivets with anti-tamper bolts.
Firstly, I removed top centre clip and one centrally to left and right of centre from bumper. Once the clips have been removed, it leaves a plain hole through bumper and valance underneath. So, I had to fit x3 captive nut clips to valance - to allow anti-tamper fixings to secure.

The anti-tamper bolts are Torx ( with pimple centrally ). Hopefully, this will stop the theft, but would still probably leave us with a smashed window. Every little helps.

Changing the subject - does the gear selector illuminate with ignition or with sidelight or not at all?

If anyone needs any photos of the fixings, please let me know. 👍👍

Hi Adam, problem is it'll not stop them having a go albeit they might not be successful, but could still cause a bit of damage which will need repaired ☹️

I understand they will smash a window and probably still steal bonnet, but it’s something for them to think about.

I have cameras out front of house, so they will also alert me. Also looking at fitting a cheap tracking device.

Terrible that this could happen outside your house Adam, I thought maybe happening in car parks, etc ☹️

Happens everywhere, it is similar nasty job to car converters. There have been recorded cases that thieves smashed the car kicking it because they were not able to cut and take the exhaust., but in other cases they just look under the car and if they see a plate been installed they simply walk away.

Not had that misfortune as yet. As many have cameras etc outside their house, they do tend to target car parks and similar - hence why I’ve added those security bolts.

Its just a case of 🙏🏼🙏🏼 it doesn’t happen to you.

As an aside - a group of Romanians are walking into supermarkets and emptying shelves around Birmingham. Brazen Theft is off the scale around the UK.
