The old square number plate on my Estima was replaced with a regular shape UK strip type.

The lower holes where the old plate was fitted was covered with these black spongey oblong stickers, but I found my eyes were drawn to them all the time.

So today I decided to replace these with some white circular stickers which look far less obvious. (I didn't take a pic of those yet)

It got me thinking, if any of you have a strip registration plate on the rear of your Estima, what do you have covering the holes?

I've fitted a new typical UK spec plate on the front of my MkII but I've left the more square plate on the back as I prefer the look. (though I do have a new UK style rear plate should I change my mind.)

On mine, the rear has two protruding "flat hooks" that the plate sits on and they sit fixed into the tailgate...no open hole (I suspect yours had those too but have been taken off in the past)

Should I change the plate style then I think I'll leave them in situ and simply stick a small piece of either red or orange/amber reflective self adhesive material as they have a vertical flat surface of about 12mm square.

In your case I'd probably consider fitting a wide enough plastic chrome strip that would cover the holes and perhaps add a bit of cosmetics too.?

I simply fitted a Jaguar style number plate. Problem solved - and the contours of the Estima suited the number plate too.

Good ideea, Paul...wonder if the shaped plates they put on the rear of a Rover 75 would fit too.?

I like the idea of a chrome strip. Have you seen this before elsewhere?

Yeah I see a few have the square style and if it weren't already all done by the garage I'd bought her from I would probably have had a square one made. I've seen various gomits and bungs that can be fitted too.

The Jag style isn't a bad idea either.

No...just something I thought of as being a consideration....and inexpensive, which I like.!!
