There are a number of threads on this forum relating to space saver wheels, I have a 2021 Dynamic HEV with 19” wheels and 235/55 19 tyres, my space saver is a genuine Toyota 17” alloy space saver with a T165/80D17 tyre, I believe the PHEV requires an 18” space saver.

Its the overall diameter of the wheel + tyre that is the important dimension rather than focusing on the wheel diameter, and should be as close as possible to the overall diameter of your current setup.

There are quite a few for sale on eBay such as this one, some with jack and tools some without.

I thought MY2022 Excel & Dynamic models came with a factory space saver. Mine did.

Tyre pressure sticker on my Dynamic.

Yes I bought a genuine Toyota Alloy Space Saver, jack, tools and foam tool holder / boot floor support off eBay.

It’s similar to the one I posted in the link on previous post, with it being an alloy and genuine Toyota you don’t have to worry about carrying different wheel nuts.

Its only ever intended as a “temporary” get me home fix, but being “old school” I didn’t fancy getting stranded with a shredded tyre and a can of goo, I’ve had it for 18 months and touch wood not needed it yet.

A space saver is simply a "get you home" spare. It is essential that it has the correct bolt pattern - PCD: 5x114.3 - but there's a fair degree of latitude in acceptable diameter. So you might have anything from a 17" rim with a tyre with a deeper sidewall to a 19" rim with a shallower sidewall.

As above, the OEM suggestion / offering is T165/90 D18 ...

This 19" (steel) offering from the Wheel Shop will work perfectly well.

As will this 18" (alloy) kit from Road Hero / Carnoisseur ... T155/85 D18

They all have broadly the same overall diameter and the required bolt pattern.

philip42h thank you I'll go with your recommendation I will buy from the wheel shop 19in . OK, all I have is the TRK (aka can of goo). If I suffer a puncture I'm simply going to call Toyota Roadside Assistance (aka the AA) and wait while they sort things out.

From your posts it seems that you want to carry a spare, but wait for the AA to change the wheel. I'm not entirely sure that I can see the benefit in that - you are either going to wait for the AA (if which case you don't really need the spare) or you are going to travel equipped to change a wheel (even if you persuade some passer-by to assist) in which case you need the full kit - spare wheel, jack and wheel brace.

If I were going to purchase a spare, I'd opt for the Road Hero kit ...

Each to his own, of course ... 😉

When a minimum space saver wheel size is required like D18 instead of a D17 it is very likely because  of the front brake discs and callipers sizes.
The larger wheels on more powerful cars or top spec version likely to have a larger brakes.

From personal experience with my C-HR that suffered a split sidewall after hitting a rock in the gutter I had to wait an hour and a half waiting for the AA man, a reasonable amount of time. He fitted a temporary spare and then followed me to to a K**k F*t where they had the correct tyre - for £200. As he needed the spare back and it was 10 minutes to their closing time I had no choice but to go for it. If I'd had my own spare I would have had time to look around for a meter price - if I'd ordered it online from KK it would have saved me £30. So in summary I can see why the OP Peter's getting a spare, even if they don't actually fit it as it gives them more flexibility.

Colin, on a cost basis, getting a spare wheel and saving £30 doesn't stack up.  The real saving is time and convenience. In your case, the diversion to KF and the wait time there, even if they have it in stock; with the spare it's just the 90minutes and you complete your journey.

It’s not just about the £30, it’s about peace of mind, I’m retired but fortunately still able to change a wheel if needed.

If I’m unlucky enough to have a puncture, it’s in my own hands, 10 / 15 minutes and I’m on my way, not having to wait for a breakdown service to come out (not always an hour as per Colin’s post) or being dependent on having a flat between the tyre shops opening hours.

Being of a certain age I personally think the move away from supplying a spare wheel and tools is very much a backwards step.

Completely agree and it does make me smile that the more premium trim levels don't get a spare.  Too posh to push 🤣

Without doubt modern cars have become very difficult for the average “home mechanic”  to work on, but changing a wheel hasn’t changed that much.

My 2022 RAV4 Excel came with a spare 18" wheel and tyre it is actually slightly bigger in diameter than the full size wheel, you can see the size on the picture below.
