Original spark plugs at good price.

I decided to buy some replacement spark plugs for my car. Original part was Denso SC20HR11, but as those that know, they have been replaced by SC16HR11. I normally try and source from a reasonably priced vendor - online or otherwise. I am also aware of counterfeit parts so need to be careful!

Well Halfords came up trumps and I did click and collect order late Friday evening. Just before 9am Saturday morning, I received a call to collect my spark plugs. The scheduled date was Tuesday, so I was very surprised. When I asked the lady why so fast, she replied they do same day collection when possible.

Here are photos of the part and the items. Screenshot_20230416_110215_Chrome.thumb.jpg.655485c23a082657098e4a42c6a7684e.jpg20230415_195539.thumb.jpg.c3e095e465d6880c1a4c767d0413e93b.jpg

The Halfords page does not specify the actual Denso part number, but details like dimensions match. Only issue I couldn't do when ordering the plugs was get the discount, but they were cheaper than practically every other place I checked at the time.

The spark plugs fits Valvematic engines and hybrid engines of similar size. Also check compatibility.

Retails and big chain stores like Halfords are great and offer genuine product. Be very careful when buying sparkplugs online. There are tons of fake product that can ruin engines like sparkplugs and oil filters.

If we get them online make sure we measure the internal resistance carefully with good multimeter. Minimum the one Lidl/Aldi sell, not unknown chinese junks.

The SC16HR11 is about 4.5 -5.5 k Ohm. If it is all over the place, from 100k Ohm to 1 kOhm, most likely they are fake.

The new spark plugs I bought from Halfords came to the rescue. A previous set I bought from eBay back in December 2019, were fakes causing EML and other warnings and cautions triggered by misfires.

The new set from Halfords are working great and some running faults have gone. To think I had the new spark plugs sitting in my house for 5 months!

I bought Autolite double platinum a decade ago. One of the ground platinum electrode bits was gone and probably scored the cylinder wall on cyl 1 that consumed 1L of engine oil per 2000 miles. I cannot imagine what happens to fake Denso that is unregulated.  Always buy from local stores or known online retailers.  Autodoc sells great products, but the shipment has a random delivery date.

Got these for myself last week, good price and I like to try them and see how they work. Indonesia made Denso, they look quality made but there are some small differences vs the original Toyota made by the same company.

sparkplugs most of them are fake and you cant know that so.... its better to pay extra and buy a set from toyota garage in your area, there is no other way to make sure you buy the original non fake ones.
