Hello, we are loving our new Corolla but have found that the boot space is a bit smaller than expected and can not fit our current set of two suitcases in it.

Does anyone know of a good suitcase that easily fits more than one case in the corolla boot?

Many thanks in advance!

So which engine do you have - 1.8 (boot capacity 598 litres) or 2.0 (581 litres)??

What sort of suitcases are you after, the smaller ones that sometimes come with extending handles that you can trolley around, or the more traditional big ones?

The non-Estate Corolla with the 2.0L Engine does have quite a compromised boot because it has a physically bigger Battery that takes up space, but the 1.8 is fairly normal from what I remember. Does yours have a load floor insert that's raising the boot floor?

The 2.0 boot space compromise on the estate is only the ‘well’ on the right hand side, which shouldn’t make a difference for a suitcase. you do actually still have loads of space around the 12v Battery anyway so your not really losing anything. I keep my tire compressor, jump leads & other bits in there. It extends right around the wheel arch too.

Surprised to hear you can’t get two large suitcases in the boot. Have you lowered the floor to its lowest level? Alternatively you can leave the retractable luggage cover back (or remove) and use the retractable cargo net instead to create a huge space back there (700litres). I recently picked my parents up from the airport, they had a large suitcase each from 2.5 weeks away on a cruise. Those two cases barely took up more than half the boot when stood on their side with the floor lowered to its lowest level

which way don’t your cases fit - do you have any photos to show the extent of the problem?

I have a spare wheel in mine and you loose about 15cm and its poor compared to my i30, both cars are similar in size and  corolla having the exhaust silencer under the boot floor that kills it.

Yeah that's why I only talked about the non-Estate 2.0; The Touring Estate Wagon Shooting Sport Station Brake versions of the 1.8 and 2.0 should have plenty of space in the back :confused1:

The suitcases must have been on the bigger side . I see a lots of TS Corolla as private hire around the airports and I believe the boot is of a decent size.

On the estate? Mine came with a spare wheel, it sits below even the lowest boot level, no space lost at all.

Graham I was on about the hb, the polystyrene tool tray sits above the spare wheel and you loose about 15cm , I thought the same would be for the estate.

Ahh right ok. The extra length of the estate allows for a good ‘old fashioned’ wheel well for the spare
