Microphone quiet

2015 1.3 Yaris. Since I purchased the car I’ve been told that my voice on telephone calls sounds very quiet. I read and saw about the microphone test built into the multimedia system. Unless I really shout the level on the test screen doesn’t register. Is this normal?

Could it just be the microphone hole is slightly blocked with dirt or something?

I thought this. I’ve cleaned it the best I can without stripping the microphone out. I was wondering whether when they cleaned the dash before I picked up the car they got dash cleaner in there

Ack, that could be a danger, esp. if whoever did it doesn't know what they're doing and sprays directly onto the dash and wipes instead of onto the cloth!!

Definitely. I’ve got it booked in with the dealership to get it sorted as I’ve had it less than a month.

Ah, in that case yeah, it's their problem to sort out!!

This is why I always prefer to buy from a dealer than private, as you have a lot more rights when it comes to existing issues like this!

I agree. Sometimes paying a little extra goes a long way when you come across any problems

Have you increased the outgoing call volume ( only present in call )?

Press Setup, General, Voice and whilst in a call the incoming and outgoing volume can be adjusted.

I’ve increased it to max while not on a call but not whilst on one. I’ll give that a try. Thank you 😊
