hello all hope all is doing great this evening. i bought Wiper Blades for my car but i thought they were the same setup like my older car but the wipers on the toyota are totally different and look really expensive to replace . do anyone know where to get new blades from cheap and i was thinking is it possible to get the rubber itself and just change that as my blades got a wee clip where the end can come off and new one can slide in

I've changed the rubber inserts on my previous two Auris - used Toyota inserts.

As regards blades, since 2017 Toyota have offered a cheaper range of Optifit Wiper Blades made to Toyota specs by Trico.

Otherwise Bosch seem to be favoured by other members.

I use to just buy wiper rubber inserts try CAR PRIDE (make) for universal fitting some motor discount stores use to sell them.

I'd recommend the Bosch Aerotwin they last a long time and are of high quality.  Buy once and forget.

Those  in the photo look standard to me they usually have two slightly diffrent types the guides are sometimes wider that the hard plastic piece the rubber slides into.

You can expect a locking device ie metal spring type clip on one end just to stop it sliding out

on the hard plastic insert.

Bosch Aerotwin may not be as good as they used to be, or I was very unlucky. I bought a pair from a reputable source a few months ago. One was loose when fitted, and the other would not fit at all. I received a replacement and that would not fit either. So I sent them back for a refund and bought a Toyota pair of from my local dealer. They fitted perfectly.

The last time I changed my wipers, I decided to spend quite a bit of money to test out silicone Wiper Blades.

I bought a set of PIAA branded ones, from one of your stores in the UK, online. Each one was very expensive, but I thought "what the hell"...

It has been more than three years, and those things are still fine. They wipe very well, very little noise if at all. And after a clean, they look almost like new. I am impressed, though I do not think they're worth the extra price. You can replace a set each year way cheaper and still get the job done.

However I do confirm... Silicone Wiper Blades do last longer than regular ones. But considering their cost and how cheaper are the regular ones, it may not be worth it.

Where I live there is not much rain and we are used to good weather. Maybe in the UK weather their lifespan is cut short drastically.

I recently replaced the wiper blade inserts of my Bosch wipers with inserts from Bosch Aero wipers that were generic, not specific like the Bosch Aero Twin A539S for the Avensis. I posted on this last week -
