Yaris Cross Lower rear bumper

Hi all

2nd week of ownership of the Yaris X and someone shunts into the back of it while stopped at lights. No harm done the guy obviously thought he had our hold function  () and let his car creep forward while tapping away on his phone evidently.

No harm done except for a tiny dent/crease on the unpainted lower rear bumper trim. It's barely noticeable but it's bugging me. Does anyone know if this can easily be removed without taking off the entire rear bumper?

I hope the Police are dealing with that! 🤬

Might be best to remove it to fix it. Got a photo of the damage?

Have you got the man phone number and name, address?
If me I would have go through the insurance and let the deal with. Usually small knocks like that with no obvious damage can turn into a bigger problem as often they hide the real damage behind. Any pictures will be interesting.

Yes I got his details (name and number plate) and have it all on video footage too since thankfully dash cam was installed a couple of days after collecting the car (will release video once it’s all sorted with the insurers).

Photo attached. Theres a fine outline of his number plate on the lower bumper trim and a small indent of his plates screw. Very minor and I might’ve let it slide if it wasn’t for the drivers stinky attitude where he denied he even hit me and the marks couldn’t have been his fault because he had no damage to the front of his car!

I must admit although I’m not surprised given how light the body work is I am amazed how easily these bumpers can be damaged.

It’s more of annoying incident that happened than any real damage to the car. But best to check under the bumper and in the boot. I don’t think it’s anything bad but just to be on the safe side. It just might  be wiped off with a microfibre cloth and any multipurpose spray cleaner.
