Hi,

I have been driving car for the past 1 year and have no experience with the maintenance.

My car's right rear lamp does not work and I would have to replace it. I checked the owners

manual and found that it is W -5 bulb. I checked Halfords could not identify the right bulb.

Please could you help me.

I checked some youtube videos online and found that I need 10mm socket driver to unplug the lamp unit.

Halfords Essentials 52 Piece Tool Kit - Is this good enough for all minor repair?

Many thanks in advance.

What bulb is blown ? Numberplate bulb ? It's w5w or 501 (same bulb)

You say right rear lamp, then I’d assume it’s the side light. This is a combined side/brake light with 5/21W filaments.
Does it look like this?

It depends if the car is a Mk2 or Mk3, being a 2011 it could be either.

The Mk2 has a small 501 wedge type tail light bulb rated 5W - its a single filament and can be removed from the rear without needing to take screws out. You pull the inspection cover off inside the corner of the boot and that gives access to remove the bulb holder. The brake light on the Mk2 is separate from the tail light.

If the car is a Mk3 then it uses a 580 wedge type twin filament 5w/21W bulb that is used for both the tail light and the brake light. Again, this can be accessed from inside the boot by removing the inspection cover behind the back light.
