Got a MY23, first Toyota. My fuel gauge is showing 30 miles range yet and the low fuel warning light has not came on yet. Does the range gauge reach zero and they resets when the low fuel warning comes on with the range in the reserve? Thanks in advance

The gauge in my Yaris Cross runs to zero.  From fuel put in and mpg it appears there is a reserve of about 6-8ltrs.  I have not had the nerve to see ic the range-to-go resets.  I don't think it does.

With my MY19 Corolla the fuel low light came on well before empty.  At the same time range to go was no longer displayed.

Do they have a low fuel warning light? I thought they only warning you with a message displaying on dashboard. But even at no range at all you can still drive for a while although not recommended. Best to keep tank at least half full most of the time, it’s a small tank anyway. 👍

If you look at the index of the full owners manual for 'warning lights', and then 'low fuel light', the section should show approx how much fuel is remaining (the reserve) when the low fuel light illuminates.

The manual says the low fuel light  "Indicates that remaining fuel is approximately 6.4 L (1.7 gal., 1.4 Imp. gal.) or less.

My fuel gauge is saying I only have 35 miles left and the light still aint on which seems odd

The range will show nil when the reserve is reached and the low fuel light comes on. Just how it is.

Better have some fuel than no fuel at all.
Depending on driving needs keeping half tank and above it is better than keeping half tank and below. 👍

If you look in the full owners manual for 'warning lights', and 'low fuel light', it will say approx how much fuel is left when the low fuel light comes on. That is your reserve.

Filling from emty as in zero range and light blinking I only ever manage about 36 liters back in tank, this would mean about 7 litres still left in tank.

Coming from gen 3 prius this is pritty normal... Ive managed over 100miles before with the range at zero... This is not to be recommend.. But circumstances demanded it at the time.... Squeaky bum time.. 😳

Corolla GR Sport MY22, I got range down to 8 miles with yellow fuel light on, needle was in reserve and starting to go beyond (as it does with full).

Tank then took 35 litres (apparently 43 capacity), after 350 miles. Was very much squeaky bum time on the motorway... 🙂

Always a good idear to do this once just to confirm that you still have fuel if your really stuck... I wouldn't do it all the time though

It most probably fitted into the tank as part of the fuel pump assembly but may not be a seperate servicable item.

For some reason most petrols don't seem to have actual fuel filters, just a strainer on the end of the pickup tube on the sender unit in the tank.

It seems more common on diesels.

Think is just a strainer in gas tank
