Hi guys,

I'm looking for engine diagram for this 1.8 2ZR engine schemaics or repair manual... especially timing. It has electric watter pump, electric A/C so no accessory belt...does it have timing chain or belt at least...?

Thx,

Hi Rado,

your engine has a timing chain. The engine is similar to previous generation hybrids and there tons of videos on YouTube about anything including timing chain replacement, timing chain rattle, etc. These later versions of 2ZR-FXE are pretty much bullet proof. You don’t need to worry about anything. Just keep up regular oil changes as per the book and use original or high quality oil and filters within the specs of the car. You can search anything about your car and engine or hybrid system using Corolla or Prius words as these two are very similar cars. 👍

The FXE engines tend to be lower maintenance than the normal engines - There's no aux belt, tensioners or pulleys that need replacing, and the chain should last the life of the engine, as long as it gets regular oil changes and isn't thrashed on a track all the time!

Thanks guys for info about that "FXE"...now I know what to check on YouTube ;-) I thought that (maybe) they used some set of gears instead of timing chain...jyst to make it hyper-bullet proof :-) I saw The Car Care Nut guy's videos....about timing, VVT and so on...now I know that "FXE" is the right word. Thank you,

Rado

I forget what the letters mean individually but all (?) the engines ending in -FXE are the Atkinson/Miller-type (Which may or may not support Otto-mode in the newer ones) which are always paired with a hybrid system.

I've seen -FKS which seem to be Atkinson/Miller non-hybrids, and -GTS which are usually high performance turbo-charged engines.
