2017 Pre-collision detection

I know the newer Yaris have this feature along with auto braking, however, on our 67 plate, the system is pretty basic with just a dash warning - or not.

Having set the distance to far ( 3 bars ), the car has never warned us of any impeding crash situations.

Mentioned it to Dealer today who said no issues with it. I know if you hold the setting button for 5 seconds, it switches off the system completely and illuminates a warning light on dash. On pressing button again, it switches it back on?

Are we just careful drivers or could there be a system fault? My 2018 C-HR is a similar system and I’d say is over-sensitive. “BRAKE” warning going round bends etc. The Yaris just doesn’t seem to do it.

Any advice on what to check or how to test system ( other than driving fast towards a wall )? 😀

The only real way to test is to get a tall sacrificial cardboard box or life-sized cardboard cutout or something like that and drive into it
