Yaris automatic

I got an yaris 2010 automatic and have a intermittent starting problem, sometimes it starts fine, other times it just won't turn over on the key, if I leave the ignition on and put it into reverse gear and then in engage gear and back into natural, it will then start up. Any ideas what it could be???

If you have a decent code scanner/diag computer, I would look at the signals coming from the neutral/park switch. It could be a little bit intermittent. Also the brake switch, if you need to have the brake engaged to start your car. My Astra with an MMT semi-auto gearbox needed the brake pressed to start.

I was going to suggest the brake switch or not pushing the pedal far enough. The could be the initial and cheapest check.

I owned a 2010 Yaris with that awful MMT. Whoever dreamed that thing up needs a slap with a wet cod.
