Saw this car today and initially I thought someone rebadged the TS. However went on Suzuki website and lo and behold, it’s a real car! Branded Suzuki but splitting image of the TS, albeit at cheaper price bracket.

I am genuinely surprised.

The Swace is a clone of the Corolla Touring Sport, and the Suzuki Across is a clone of the Rav4 PHEV. Differing specifications, and covered by Suzuki as regards warranty, etc.

Both built by Toyota - the Swace at Burnaston Derbyshire, and the Across in Japan.

Reason behind both is that it helps Suzuki meet their fleet average emissions target.

Cheers for this. I’ve just checked out the Suzuki Across, price aside I actually prefer it to the RAV4.

I was aware of the Swace and saw one at the time the OP made this post. It was a Tourer. On my road there are a couple of Corolla Tourers. Just need to spot the Mazda 2 disguised as a Yaris!

Suzuki's new service warranty can be covered for up to seven years with the main dealers.

Are there different spec levels? Had a quick look on Autotrader and they all seemed to have the same wheels. If that's the case anyone know what the Toyota equivalent spec is?

Like Toyota's Relax warranty, the Suzuki service generated warranty is an extended warranty covering electrical and mechanical components with exceptions. See attachment.

AFAIK Suzuki have only ever done two trim levels, both with the same 16" wheels and 1.8 engine.

The spec may be more difficult to compare with the Toyota versions, probably somewhere in the middle. Suzuki don't offer the full range of gadgets (e.g. no HUD/hands-free boot & the displays aren't the latest), but heated steering wheels are standard (as opposed to unavailable).

After their 11 year old RAV4 became beyond economical repair my daughter bought a new Suzuki Vitara mild hybrid and my son in law bought a new Suzuki S- Cross mild hybrid.

Both cars for the price of a new RAV4, and great packages 👍

Suzuki also build cars for Toyota under the Toyota brand in different markets around the world

Yes, as part of their joint venture, Toyota currently sell re-badged versions of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno (Toyota Glanza), Vitara Brezza (Urban Cruiser), and Ertiga (Rumion) in Asia and South Africa (Rumion).

Holy Smokes, just had to image search the make and model as it's been a while since I've seen a Suzuki and I am flabbergasted.  Mad.

How about this - a VW Taro which was a rebadged Hilux:

Daihatsu Charade - rebadged Yaris:

Daihatsu Mebius - rebadged Prius Plus (but with only five seats):

Daihatsu is becoming the economics version of Toyota. Just like Xenia and Avanza in South east Asia. Basic MPV that affordable for most midclass family there.

So maybe a little off topic but I’ve notice a lot of Corolla Touring is being run as taxis. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing…

The Prius, C-HR, Avensis, and Auris (hatchback & Touring Sport)and are also popular as taxis.

In the US, RAV4s are used as cabs in some cities incl New York.

Don't think it says anything apart from the reliability of these cars suits their use as taxis/cabs.

Super economy, big boot, more room in the back, comfortable and reliable. What's not to like?
