Went out in the CHR for a reasonably long drive on Thursday, no rattle

Its been parked up ever since, and hasn't moved. Come Monday, it take her out for a spin and there's a rattle. Sounds like its coming from the back (to me from the drivers seat). You don't have to move far or fast to hear it, it sounds like it rattles with the road surface. Its driving me mad.

I know its hard to diagnose these things on a forum, just wanted to get it off my chest really.

I don't suppose you'll be lucky enough to solve it as easily as the rattle I had, but mine was the car park coins that I kept in the aftermarket centre console fitment that I bought. A piece of kitchen roll folded over the top cured the problem 🙂

Have you looked under the seat and beneath the car to see if anything looks loose. Also try the boot it may be a tool or item that has also become loose.

I've actually got one of those aftermarket console trays there's no money in it, but I've taken everything out and I still hear the rattle.

My next elimination step is to take everything out of the boot leaving the Battery only and see if that makes a difference.

I will also take a look underneath the car to see if there is anything a-miss. I may have to ask someone to sit in the back and listen to see what they hear.

Thanks for the replies so far

So my task for today was to identify the source of the rattle. And would you believe it, it's no longer rattling!

Oh, well

Don't worry, it'll come back when you haven't got time to look for it.

Plastics thermo expansion is the key. Hard plastics suffer that especially between mounting points and Toyota cars has plenty of those in their interior. My car sometimes it’s like an old cart , sometimes smooth and quiet as an S-class, but I don’t care about it.

My C-HR is back at the dealer to have a rattle fixed. The rattle has been there since day one, and I've only had the car just over two weeks. I get her back tomorrow.

In my previous C-HR I had a similar rattle. This is fixed by opening the boot lid and wiping the two black locating rubbers, on the sides of the car body and boot lid, with some GT85 silicone spray. This cured the problem. Didn't work for my new one though.

So true- in summer, most portion of the car is squeaky especially if you press.
