'22 Yaris- underbonnet earthing points

Hi everyone

I've had Toyota's for years, no idea why I haven't joined before!

I recently became victim to the dreaded flat 12V Battery problem for the first time in 4 cars worth of ownership (although the car screaming about 'Hybrid system stopped' was hardly helpful) and called out the breakdown service spending a wonderful 2 hours waiting for a guy to turn up with a jump pack for 5 minutes work!

Now this is the first time I've ever had the problem and I think due to the journey's I did and the time the car wasn't used it was a 'perfect storm' scenario as in the past I've gone on holiday for 2 weeks and it's started with no issue's.

However I don't want the problem again so have bought myself a Noco jump pack (handy for all kinds of things). If anyone else has seen one you will know that the leads are not exactly generous so I can't reach the negative point on the engine that the AA guy used and is suggested in the handbook. So are any of the points I've circled on the picture of my engine bay any use for it? I do carry jumpleads (had them for years so they are there just in case) so I could extend the negative by clipping two cables together but am not sure if the increase in length could cause problems! 😉

With some of the suggestions I've read on here like leaving it switched on while washing it (which I can do safely and should give the 12V a good charge as it takes me a few hours normally!) will hopefully mean I don't have the issue's again and the Noco will be there to help other people rather than myself.

I would appreciate any help or advice you can offer.

I don't see how the extended cable wold cause any problems but I do know others here use the same pack and this has never been mentioned before,  maybe there is another earth  pint closer to the positive terminal you can use.

I used one of the top strut bolts as shown in any of the top three circled in your photo and it worked fine with my Noco..

Anywhere you have bare metal TBH, the hybrids pull no more than 10-20 amps to pull in the HV contactors (blower and lights off)

I jumped a hybrid with a 2.0ah 12v drill Battery and a bit of 1.0 mm twin and earth cable once (use what you have in an emergency)
