Hi - Lack of turbo won't stop revving over 1500rpm.

I'd change the fuel filter and take it from there.

Have you checked the fuel injectors Rhian ?

It’s had a full service fuel filter changed I don’t think the injectors have been checked I’m just at a loss with it at mo

How long ago was the filter changed I had a problem with mine and it wasn't long after I put in a new one - so don't assume it's ok... unless maybe it was literally last week or something.

You could unplug the air intake sensor and see what that does, simply pull it out and the car will pretty much run as normal.

Looking back has there been anything odd about the way the car has been behaving before it stopped revving to 1500 rpm?

I've never had faulty injectors but I can't think of a failure mode where they would all break at the same time and that would limit it to 1500rpm.

Does it rev over 1500rpm when in neutral?

Filter was changed in January it did cut out once but primed it and it started fuel lines have bn done too

it won’t rev over 1500 rpm even in neutral

If it's had a full service, surely the guys in the garage would have checked it.

In my opinion 4 months is enough that I'd go for a filter change again to rule it out; it only takes one dodgy tank to clog it up.

Anything else you've noticed over the last few months? Difficulty starting, stalling, stuttering under acceleration, vibration, smoke?

Did this just suddenly happen, if so from the start of a journey, mid way through?

How long have you sat with your foot on the accelerator seeing if it will go above 1500rpm?

And long shot.... I don't know what would happen if you put petrol in, but any chance you misfuelled?

It did cut out on me at a junction primed it and it started again nothing else and about 20 miles into the journey it just lost power it starts and ticks over fine no codes and no not misfuelled it did have a new tank and neck for mot

I change the fuel filter again and  just maybe run it from a diffrent fuel supply if that works then its time to disconnect the fuel lines and blow them out and take a look at what comes out of the lines.

Or check fuel line pressure if low.

You looking for crud/line blockage restristing fuel flow low flow will give low fuel line pressure.

How long ago was the MOT when you had the tank and neck replaced? Sounds like a perfect opportunity for some crud to get dislodged or allowed into the tank.

I'd bet you can't get above 1500rpm because either the filter is clogged or the fuel line is clogged (or both) and this fits with the stall.

I suppose the other option is the fuel pump, maybe that is on the way out... but £30-£40 to fit a new filter and clean the lines and rule that out is a safer bet than a new pump. A good mechanic could maybe check the pressure out of the fuel pump when doing the filter.

You only need to open the drainer on the bottom of the filter bowl to take a sample of the fuel.  A small jar will give you a sufficient sample as any impurities will be at the bottom.  If you get a good clean sample, the filter will be ok.

Hmmm, no intention to take this off topic with a debate so I'll just e-frown at this comment and politely disagree.

But frankly by the time you've got all the way to taking a sample you may as well replace the filter and be 100% sure, not worth cheaping out at the last minute if you're so close to being able to do a job well.

That is the very reason there is a drain valve on the bottom of the filter.

Or maybe to check for water (since diesel floats on water)...

Are there any error codes?

When my Yaris D4D's filter was blocked, it went into limp mode with an error code that was something like Fuel Overpressure
