Scan the car for codes, see if it has snapped a drive shaft or busted a CV joint, But more than likely it's clutch/pressure plate or clutch actuator issue

Hi Thank you- I have been away and now received this response.

Its the MM semi automatic Yaris.

Thud sounds when gears shift?

On start from 1st - 2 and some times even 3rd gear- engine revs car will not move or engage in gear  with loss of power?

Hi- whilst i am waiting for a Toyota appointment  for diagnostic  my Yaris suddenly lost power driving very slow with struggle at 20-25 miles with check engine light on.  Please can you advise- could this also be related to the actuator? This has happened a couple to tines and then an hour or so later the engine light turns off the the car power comes back  along with the above problems>
