Tracker and Immobiliser - early issues

Well,

I had a tracker and immobiliser fitted to my last BMW - a Meta S5 Deadlock - which today were fitted to my new Rav4 PHEV.   They were faultless for 4 years on the BMW ... not quite such an easy start to life with the PHEV ...

A few issues to sort !!

When the car is plugged in to charge the ignition is technically on, so the cars tracker expects to see the cars immobiliser fob ... except I leave the car to charge, taking the fob with me.  This sets the tracker off as no immobiliser fob !  Thus I get a text and phone call from the tracking company.

Apparently as the tracker and immobiliser are linked between themselves via bluetooth they can't tell the tracker to see 'motion only'.  Joy.

The immobiliser has been attached to a wire which seems to confuse the car.  It won't immobilise it + if the fob is not there I get a load of warnings come up as it immobilises a few of the electrical features !!  Not an issue as I drive with the fob but it is not stopping the car from moving.

A second go at sorting will be carried out on Monday.  In the meantime, the tracker is 'turned off' in the sense of I tell them if the car is pinched ... or they will be ringing me each time I have it on charge (!) and the immobiliser is, when the fob isn't present, only immobilising features which don't have anything to do with stopping the car being stolen ! (parking sensors for example).

Modern tech is so clever it is a total pita at times.  I do hope it can be sorted.  I know the Tracker can be easily ... but am less sure re the immobiliser.

I will update this thread with, I hope, a happy outcome.

A number of people have installed and them removed additional tracker/immobilisers. Hope you have more success but it does sound like more stress than I’d be willing to put up with.

It's not stress I need atm so do hope it can get sorted easily. The car drives fine which is good and it is lovely ... thus I want it sorted asap.

OK ... one step forward .. the tracker is sorted now so it doesn't go off every time the car charges 😄

Progress lol
